German is not a prerequisite
Knowledge of German is not a prerequisite for international students in my modules.
Nevertheless, if you want to find a job in Germany, even if it is only a part-time or casual one, German skills at level A2 or higher are absolutely necessary.
Helpful for my modules, but not required, are the following skills:
- Listening comprehension
- Reading and understanding
You will learn the German technical terms on the fly as you work through the lessons. To help with this, I give the German term in parentheses at its first introduction, e.g. voltage (German: Spannung).
I do not expect you to learn to communicate about electrical engineering in German through this course. Ideally, that is a skill that develops over the course of your studies and your life. By including the German key terms and using German-language technical documents such as datasheets and scripts, I try to foster your communication skills and the corresponding motivation.
Important!
Do not wait until you are looking for a job: Start learning German early, so that you reach at least level A2 in good time.
